Yurts come in many different styles and colours. If you don't find what you need in this catalogue but think it's possible, contact us and we'll work something out. We at  Co-Z Yurts offer 2 different styles of yurts and many options to create your own original space. We sell only the yurt structures, not the floor (Plastic liners for floor are available). A floor, be it a proper wooden platform or a concrete ring filled with shredded bark will greately improve the feel of your yurt. Work with a local builder, somebody who knows what they're doing or do it yourself, you won't regret! Plans for flooring are available on request.

The standard frames are made of grade1 NZ grown Pine ), NZ-Manuka being an intersting alternative for a more "natural look", finished with a woodpenetrating oil (Many other timbers like macrocarpa, treated pine, douglas fir, poplar or even bamboo can and have been used succesfully and if you have a preferance for any of these or even others we can find out availability and prices for those). The wall trellis will have 9 crossings and be approx. 1,75m high.(This hight might be deceiving since the real hight of the yurt will leave more than enough headspace, moving in a few cm from the wall the hight will already be upto 2m. The hight in the middle will be depending on size 2,38 to 3.56m high). Tall-wall option increasing the wall hight to approx. 1,9m. The rafters for the smaller yurts (upto 6m) are 75x40mm, for the bigger ones 100x40mm.

The standard hub is a 1,25m diameter laminated Douglas fir ring with holes at the right angles to secure rafters. It gives a neat sky view, lets in an abundance of light and most importantly can be opened to cool the yurt down in summer.

2 options for the roof cover are flame retardant PVC coated fabric with a 5 year warranty or heavy weight 12oz polycotton canvas with an extra mildew and waterproofing treatment (best in combination with astrofoil insulation)The wall cover is made out of 8oz acrylic canvas which is a pure polyester woven fabric with a 5 year manufacturer guarantee.

The standard yurt will have a solid timber door made from recycled hardwoods or macrocarpa (depending on supplies) and clear vinyl cover for the hub tied down with easy to fix ropes (openable for inside fires or ventilation).

The openable plexiglass dome will make ventilation a lot easier and sky-view clearer. The wall lining comes in 3 pieces easily connected with 6 buckle's. One or more of these pieces can be removed or rolled up in summer to ventilate or create a semi-outdoor space. Replace one or more of the wall pieces with the Bugscreen-wall option to keep the bugs out.

When dissasembled the whole yurt will easily fit in the back of a ute or van!!

An unmissable item for more permanently used yurts is our astro-foil reflective insulation. This insulation works by reflecting radiant heat rather then by mass. It's a product based on insulation developed by NASA to insulate space-suits so you better believe it'll keep your yurt warm (or cool). Research has shown that 75% of heat loss is through radiant heat and (unlike conventional mass-insulations which have no effect at all on this form of heat transmission) reflective insulation will stop upto 97% of this form energy loss! Meeting class1/A fire rating, fit with a light liner on the inside and cut to fit you're window and door-placement it's an absolute must on your yurt! (Find out more about this insulation and how it works at www.astro-foil.com.au or ask us for a brochure)

To keep it even warmer in winter we can provide instructions to install a woodstove with chimney through the roof. Another option to have a woodstove in the yurt is to put it in the middle and have a chimney reaching just underneath the hubcover (open the hubcover while the stove is going!, fires on rainy days might present some problems...). For the wilder yurt-dwellers open fires in the middle of the yurt are the way to go! Always think safety first when having fires inside your yurt (talk to the local firedepartment or council about firesafety-regulations)

The light frame tent yurts are designed to be moved even easier and quicker. The walls will be lower (appr. 1.5m) have only 6 crossings and the hub is smaller . Fitted with a standard roll down canvas door they can be carried around by hand yet are still strong and weatherproof and unlike any other tent to be in! Flooring options for these include no floor or a liner that covers the floorarea made out of durable PVC to keep the inside dry and warm. Let us know if you're planning to use them without floor and we'll paint the bottoms of the wall trellis with a sealing paint at minimum cost to stop them from sucking up any moisture.

Besides all this there's the UV-resistant clear vinyl windows. The standard yurt comes with 1m² of fixed window and 1m² openable window with sewn in bugmesh. Don't hesitate to order more windows for more view or ventilation. (Warning!: don't turn your Yurt into a greenhouse! unless that's what you're using it for...) To work out placement of windows (and extra doors) work from a diagram with entrance door at 12 0'clock, let us know at what time you want the center of your windows (or extra door). Windows can be different shapes form circels to triangles but only square or rectangular ones can be openable.

Prices for the different options can be found on the pricelist (where else?!). If you have any specific needs or plans for you're yurt, send us an e-mail, fax or phone and we'll do our best to work it out.

All yurts come with easy to follow instructions and what-to-and-what-not-to's.Most yurts can be set up in a day or less, the first time and especially for the bigger sizes will take a bit longer...
